GFT’s key personnel started their development on membranes and membrane application already during the sixties of last century. Main focus at that time was on Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Electrodialysis (ED).
In the seventies of last century GFT’s key personnel was in responsible positions in the development and market introduction of Reverse Osmosis (RO) for Brackish and Sea Water, Ultrafiltration (UF), Nanofiltration (NF) and Gas Separation (GS).
Since the early eighties of the last century GFT’s personnel has specialized on Pervaporation (PV) and Vapour Permeation (VP) and patented in 1982 effective PVA membrane till today leading in this field.
Today a number of modified PVA-membranes especially designed for different applications are available for Pervaporation, Vapour Permeation and Gas Dehydration. More than 150 industrial plants have been built using these membranes.
GFT’s personnel was also involved in the development of ceramic NaA membranes for Pervaporation and Vapour Permeation. GFT built worldwide several VP-Dehydration Plants equipped with NaA membranes for the dehydration of solvents.
At the beginning of 2000 this know-how was transferred to the company “GFT Membrane Systems GmbH”.
GFT Membrane Systems GmbH is today manufacturing the original GFT PV/VP-membranes on his own facilities in Homburg. The “old” key personnel is today still acting as advisors to GFT Membrane Systems.
GFT Membrane Systems GmbH is not only supplying membranes and membrane modules, but also supplying complete plants and developing (in cooperation with interested clients) membrane enhanced processes including distillation, other separation processes and reactions plants is one of the main activities.
